Tech Updates / Randy Roussell / 06Aug2008

·        The JCS Wireless Network will be online by 29Aug2008.

·        When scheduling an activity that requires the use of technology, be sure to plan a backup activity in case you get a visit from Murphy.

·        To follow most of the links in the new Comprehensive Curriculum PDFs or Word docs, click the hot link while pressing down the Ctrl key.

·        Computer Lab and Classroom Computers (including network devices) should not be modified (hardware or software) by either students or teachers.

·        Any student that modifies a computer will be given a referral along with a call home to the parents or guardians.  Notify me of the incident.

·        When having difficulties using a computer’s operating system or applications, do not forget to use embedded help functions and/or Internet resources for assistance.

·        Students need to have a working knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS FrontPage, MW Excel, and the MS Windows Operating Systems.  This should be integrated into the content area that you teach.

·        When leaving the Computer Lab be sure to lock both of the doors.

·        When leaving the Computer Lab for the day be sure to move items that you were using to their stored location.

·        For the protection of the computers, please maintain a cool, low humidity environment in the Computer Lab.

·        Video watching or listening to audio on any computer should be done only if necessary due to bandwidth constraints.

·        The security of our network is vital to the health of our computer systems.

·        Computers and battery backup systems need to be elevated off of the floor in case of flooding.
